Digital media is now reaching as far as the not so exciting sectors such as property and landlord and tenant documents. We came across these two sites which were particularly interesting, given their not so interesting subject matter. The first of these is Assured Shorthold Tenancy which offers information and template documents for download. What we like is their use of digital media, specifically video demonstrations, to demonstrate their products. Another similar site is Tenancy Agreement.org which has all sorts of information about tenancy agreements and provides tenancy agreements for download. Again this website makes good use of digital media and video to demonstrate its products and to give information to its visitors.
By way of a little tenancy background here are many different types of tenancy agreement. Some types of tenancy agreement provide the tenant with more rights than others. The main type of agreement is the assured shorthold tenancy agreement which is very common in the private rental sector. A very interesting guide can be found at direct.gov.uk which provides detailed background info on tenancy agreements.
Most private sector tenancy agreements entered into on or after 28 February 1997 will be an Assured Shorthold Tenancy. Tenancy agreements that started before that date or which relate to the public sector are more likely to be an Assured Tenancy agreement. It’s good to see the emergence of sites outside the mainstream media sectors making use of video within their websites. The fact that video production has hit the dizzy heights of the online tenancy agreement sector really does show how fast it is moving!
